A lot of the work taking place right now is behind the scenes—some of it quite literally, as crews prep the space between Wells Fargo and Starbucks which will eventually house a portion of Bungalow 240, the new full-service restaurant facing Peachtree Street. Within the floors in Building 1, more than a dozen showrooms are relocating and expanding in advance of January Market as part of the floor remerchandising initiative. Moves include home decor favorites like GO Home, Jaipur Living, Dome Deco and Jeffan International, so be sure to peruse the What's New section of this book to adjust your Market plan. After January Market, construction will begin on the Peachtree Street side of Building 1, making way for the dramatic new entryway and escalator lobby. The registration area facing John Portman Boulevard and the main elevator lobby will be raised to meet the Peachtree Street elevation, eliminating the need for stairs, wheelchair lifts and cumbersome luggage hauls as you navigate the lobby level. Construction will pause for July 2020 Market, then continue through the end of the year. The full lobby renovations of both Buildings 1 and 3 are expected to be complete for the January 2021 staging of The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. ■ 28 |
