Her group conducts research at the intersection of computational design, digital fabrication, materials science and synthetic biology and applies that knowledge to design across scales from the micro scale to the building scale. Her goal is to enhance the relationship between the built and the natural environments by employing design principles inspired or engineered by Nature and implementing them in the invention of novel digital design technologies.Recently, Oxman and The Mediated Matter Group completed version II of their glass 3D printing platform entitled GLASS II, which takes glass to (literal) new heights. The show opened in an exhibition for Lexus YET at Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy, April 2017. Neri Oxman received her PhD in design computation as a Presidential Fellow at MIT, where she coined the term Material Ecology to describe her research area. Oxman was named to ICON’s list of the top 20 most influential architects to shape our future, and was selected as oneof the 100 most creative people by Fast Company. Most recently, in 2014 Oxman has won the Vilcek Prize in Design, the Carnegie's Pride of America Award and Boston Society of Architects Womenin Design Award.Danielle Feinberg began her career at Pixar Animation Studios in February 1997. As she worked her way from an entry level, technical job to one of the top creative positions, she crewed many of Pixar’s feature films including Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. Feinberg rose to be the Director of Photography for Lighting on Disney•Pixar’s Academy Award®-winning films WALL•E and Brave and recently worked on Pixar's fall 2017 film Coco.Feinberg’s love of combining computers and art began when she was eight years old, and first programmed a Logo turtle to create images. This eventually led her to a degree in Computer Science from Harvard University. In addition to her Pixar work, she works with teenage girls, encouraging them to pursue code, math and science by demonstrating to them this same magic found by combining art and technology. She was able to bring that message to a broader audience with her TED talk that was part of the PBS “Science and Wonder” presentation for TED Talks Live.Find out more about all of the speakers at LIGHTFAIR.COM/CONFERENCE/KEYNOTES
