Section 9 | Home Care & Maintenance INTERIOR/EXTERIOR DOORS Problem Door sticks or binds. Hinges on door squeak. Sliding glass door sticking or hard to operate. Sliding glass door will not lock. Wood entry door losing glossy finish. Hot or cold air coming in around exterior door. Water infiltration at door. Optional garage door opener not opening. Potential Cause Loose screws. Door strike plates unadjusted. Bottom rollers out of adjustment. Dirty track. Locking latch out of adjustment. Weather related from sun and heat. Threshold out of adjustment. Worn/missing weather stripping. Threshold not snug to bottom of door. Power out. Potential Solution Tighten screws. Adjust strike plate on back side of door. Clean track, adjust rollers, and apply silicone spray. Adjust locking latch. Clean door often. Apply small amount of varnish. Adjust threshold. Replace worn or missing weather stripping. Adjust or replace weather stripping or sweep to ensure tighter fit. Pull emergency overhead door release cord. Interior door does not latch properly. Strike plate out of adjustment. Settlement or swelling from moisture. Adjust strike plate. Adjust hinges, strike plate, or jambs. Bi-fold doors do not close flush. Bi-fold door leaves track. Bent track. Accident. Straighten track, reinstall door, inserting wheels at top of door into track. Entry door does not latch properly. Loose weather strip or slight door movement. Threshold or strike plate out of adjustment. Adjust threshold or strike plate. Realign door. Cracked panel on entry door. Wood panel expansion/ contraction from humidity changes. Repair wood and seal panel. Optional garage door opener not operating. Weak or dead batteries in remote control. Breaker tripped or opener not plugged in. Replace batteries.
