New & Noteworthy | New Exhibitors to Salon NEW EXHIBITORS TO SALON Stephen Wilson Studio SAMS G-7020 Salon You’ve never seen textile art like this. Conceptual artist Stephen Wilson began his hands-on education in textile- based techniques with a freelance career in NewYork’s garment industry in the 1990s. His métier quickly grew to a mixed-media practice employing digitized embroidery, painting, 3D printing, photography, sculpture and more. His pieces often contain millions of embroidery stitches and take hundreds of hours to create. From his studio in Charlotte, North Carolina — a former mill town and textiles hub — Wilson aims to evoke questions about appropriation, conspicuous consumption and brand worship. In moving to Salon, he feels that his artwork will be displayed at its full potential. Vie Venezia SAMS G-5057 Salon Only the most elite craftsmanship could produce such exquisite textiles. Via Venezia’s silk velvets and sateen linens are hand-dyed, printed with hand-drawn and carved wooden blocks, and hand-painted for an extra level of detail. Design inspirations derive from ancient works of art and architectural motifs around the world, particularly those from the rich cultural heritage and Eastern influences of Venice. Adorning pillows, bed and table linens, these extravagant masterpieces cultivate chic connoisseurship from those who love one-of-a-kind collectibles. Established in 2014, Via Venezia Textiles is new to High Point and chose Salon as the most appropriate setting for its high-end products.
