Play it Again – Just when you thought mid-century was
over, it’s still around as designers look to the 1960s and 1970s as inspiration for a contemporary look that’s anything but cold. Colors are updated shades of the familiar: avocado green becomes serpentine green, harvest gold is now ochre and so on. The clean lines, color blocking and simple geometrics stand the test of time.
Home Work – Working from home is no longer an outlier but standard practice for many professionals. Furnishing a productive yet interesting working environment requires a classic integration of form and function. Multi-functional furniture is becoming more mainstream as people want technical convenience in stylish pieces. Flexibility in both furniture and accessories allows the end user to multi-task from the convenience of home.

Wabi-Sabi – In Japanese culture, the concept of wabi-sabi means to find beauty in imperfection and revering authenticity. With so much mass production, people yearn for a connection to their possessions, even when they are flawed. Time and use leave behind wear and tear and signal that something was part of someone’s life.
One on One – As consumers continue to view their worlds through Instagram, aesthetics become more important. Monochromatic décor is both soothing and striking as details create the interest and tactile elements become more important. Whether a single shade or multiple hues, singular color schemes are striking a resonant chord. ■
