Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site
Atlanta would not be the progressive metropolitan region it is today without the efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other leaders of the civil rights movement. While 2018 marks the 50th anniversary
of King’s death, his legacy continues to influence the city and beyond.
Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site is a national park consisting of several spots from King’s life. Visitors can see
his birth home, hear one of his speeches played at Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church where he preached and walk along the International Civil Rights Walk
of Fame to learn about other prominent leaders of the civil rights movement. The site also serves as the final resting place of King and his wife, Coretta,
as the duo is entombed across from the Eternal Flame, symbolizing the continued efforts to realize his ideal.
