She has a different perspective on oversized pieces and encourages retailers to display large pieces no matter the size of the store to show a customer that their space doesn’t have to be oversized for such art. “One large piece of art over a sofa can make quite an impact and ground the room.”
GROUP PROJECT
Groupings work well too for wall art especially if retailers can tell a story with them. “It doesn’t have to be too matchy-matchy but make sense with a theme through content or color.
Wink Gaines, who is a nationally renowned wildlife photographer, encourages buyers to dig into the story behind art. Gaines suggests groupings of wall decor based on a unifying theme such as the West, in which case you can showcase wildlife from the region.
The same concept applies to working
with a consumer. When there’s a large space, offer the option of helping to create a gallery grouping with several pieces. Each client
is different and some could prefer more eclectic groupings.
No matter which way you choose to display it, wall art can work wonders for your business, says Rulli. “The strong emotional response
can capture the imagination of a customer
and heighten their interest in your store display of vignette.”
