Hats are just the tip of the possibilities. “For the season, we put packages together for retailers that include sandals, T-shirts, purses, bags, festival towels, jewelry or kimonos,” says Rayon. Trending are layered outfits (fringed jeans or shorts, swingy summer dresses, fun underpinnings like bras or bralettes, and kimonos in soft, pastel shades for spring. Organic fibers rule
in clothing.
“We’re seeing retailers buy with festival pop-up-shops and promotions in mind,” says Michelle Ruby Morgan, principal of Just Got 2 Have It, which represents multiple lines. Must-haves include removable tattoos (Tattly), face paint and hair glitter (Unicorn Snot by FCTRY), aromatherapy jewelry, sunglasses (Blue Gems), funky socks (Sock it to Me), hats, bags, environmentally-conscious products (bracelets by 4Ocean),
and tech accessories. Tech Candy’s cell phone accessories
are favorites of the crowd who constantly posts about their experiences. Hydration is big (fun water bottles) and other practical products like sunscreen (COOLA), and Super-Sparkly Safety Stuff BlingSting pepper spray that add comfort, she says.
As more festivals spring up, the niche is growing. “Festival fashion has given retail a whole new segment of customers who are trend setters and media savvy,” says Morgan.
